Activities at Meenmutty Falls

Situated in Wayanad district at about 29 kilometres from the city of Kalpetta, the Meenmutty Falls adorns the landscaped setting gushing out from an elevation of about 300 metres along three different levels. It gets its name from two Malayalam words Meen and Mutty, meaning of Meen being fish and Mutty meaning blocked. Trekking can be enjoyed here as one of the most awesome activities during a one day trip to Kombaikani and Meenmutty waterfalls. Two kilometres of trekking from the Neyyar Reservoir takes the picnickers to Meenmutty Falls and a trek of another 2 kilometres makes the Kombaikani Falls reachable for the sightseers.

While trekking towards the Meenmutty Falls amidst a striking variety of flora and fauna, the visitors get acquainted gradually with the unique charm of this region. Hiking or trekking to Meenmutty Falls starts at the main Ooty Road. The picnickers like hiking up to each of the three levels of the Meenmutty Falls and explore the surrounds, which mainly comprise of moist deciduous trees. Wayanad is home to another waterfall with the name same as Meenmuthy Falls, which is found within the premises of the Banasura Hill Resort. The road route to this Meenmutty Falls is through the village of Vellamunda across Pulinjal.

Kombaikani Falls

Trekking up along the Meenmutty Falls for about 2 killometres picnickers get at the Kombaikani Falls. Found along the way to Agasthyakoodam, the Kombaikani Falls is visited by the sightseers accompanied most of the times by a trained and experienced guide. The forest rest house is positioned in close proximity to the Kombaikani Falls, this asset of pristine nature being accessible only with a forest pass.
